This week I worked on a small project, making a wood/acrylic Go board, which is a board game slightly similar to checkers.

I started with a simple CAD design, making the top of the boards and the sides, which I laser cut and made into a box of the board. The actual grid of the board is engraved into the top acrylic piece as well.

Then, I assembled the board using hot glue, and put a wooden board under the grid to make it look better.

I had to split the wood underside into two boards, as the wood we have wasn't wide enough to cover the entire width of the grid. The seam that the two boards made is definitely noticeable, but doesn't ruin the look of the board.

For my main project, my new collets for the flywheels finally arrived, and while they are a bit short, I can make them work. Hopefully, these new collets will do a better job of holding the flywheels in place and allow them to spin without causing the rig to vibrate. Hopefully I will be able to mount them to the motors and successfully test them before the end of the week.
