This week I finally got new motors to use for my gyroscopes, which means I can do proper testing of the balancing rig. I also spent a few days trying to redesign the swivels for the balancing rig. The current rig I have works, but it takes up too much horizontal space, and the train body would need to be much wider than I planned to fit it, which would make the train less stable.

It turns out I was overengineering the design, and all I needed to do was put the gears on an adjacent side of each swivel, which fixed the problem
